TEXAS SOUTHEAST THIRD JURISDICTIONAL PRELATE
Bishop T. T. Terry was born in Henderson, Texas to the parentage of Mother Roxie Terry and Deacon A.D. Terry. After graduating from Henderson High School, Bishop T. T. Terry attended Butler College and Wiley College. He later matriculated through Prairie View A&M University where he received his Master’s Degree in Psychology and Economics.
Bishop Terry worked for more than 25 years as an educator and counselor in the Dallas Independent School District.
Bishop T. T. Terry received his first appointment as pastor from Bishop R.E. Ranger more than 60 years ago. He was called to pastor Caledonia C.O.G.I.C. in East Texas. He has also pastored other churches throughout the state of Texas including in Wichita Falls, Laneville, and Dallas. Some 54 years ago, he moved to Dallas and founded the Chicago Street/Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ.
After serving as pastor for several years, the church was relocated to the Oak Cliff area of Dallas in 1972 and renamed Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ.
During his time working in the Texas Southeast Third Jurisdiction, Bishop Terry served as the Youth Department President. The Youth Congress would be a highly anticipated event each year with no church in the jurisdiction being large enough to hold it. After seeing his great work with the Youth Department, Bishop Ranger would ask him to take the helm of the State Sunday School Department. That department too began to experience tremendous growth.
After Bishop Ranger's demise, Bishop Terry would become the first-ever known Administrative Assistant to be appointed and consecrated by the General Board of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. He was appointed to serve with Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop C. L. Bryant. He served more than 20 years as the First Administrative Assistant in Texas Southeast Third.
In November 2017, Bishop Terry received his appointment from our National Church Presidium as the presiding prelate of Texas Southeast Third Jurisdiction. Our Jurisdictional leader has walked humbly before men and has found favor in the sight of the Lord. He is poised to use his plan of "Inclusion" to continue to build on the foundation left by Bishop Ranger and Bishop Bryant.
Bishop Terry is married to the First Lady of the Jurisdiction, Missionary Virginia Lockwood Terry.
